Pinovember 20

my third lovely little requested
a pink ballerina princess tea party
for birthday #3.

As much as i am on the verge of being over pink,
you should've seen her excited face when she asked,
so her wish was my command.  ;)

{ the food table }

i honestly didn't go crazy with the actual theme,
but there was just enough there to appease the birthday girl
and convince her it was indeed fit for a ballerina.

i used the duvet cover from a sister's bed as the table linens,
thus freeing up some budget for other frivolities.

i stamped e's onto little wooden spoons.

the ballerina prints were from a
sweet, little market in Covent Garden
from our holiday a few years ago...
perfect for our Edie London-Rose.

the menu consisted of cheddar broccoli soup
and tomato basil soup shots with grilled cheese sliders.

alas, we had a very happy birthday girl on our hands.

miss edie's birthday treat
for her preschool friends.

after doing all of her party prep,
i couldn't bear one more pink thing
(you'll understand when you see the pics.. ha ha),
so purple it was!

{ Party Favors }

my favorite pink candy right now is
strawberry whoppers...

oops, this is about edie..

okay, EDIE'S favorite pink candy right now is
strawberry whoppers,
so i knew i wanted to use those for her favors.

I started with... what else.. a million circles.
these were 2 inches.

you fold them in half
and punch holes near but not touching the fold.
then you simple hold four of them together
and thread a coordinating ribbon through.

now just gather and secure under the box.

Pinovember 15

we're in the throws of party planning here,
so i'm a little behind posting.

today i made some decorative food picks.

i love a simple project,
and this one required just two items.

{ food picks & washi tape }

these couldn't be easier,
but all little touches
really add up on the big day.

japanese washi tape
has been my newest indispensable object around here.
it adds a nice pop to almost anything.

i just folded it around the pick
and trimmed a V at the ends.

dunzo!

my current, slightly unhealthy, obsession is chevron.

unfortunately when i get into something,
it pretty much consumes me,
and i want it from head to toe on me
and from basement to attic in my house.

i can't promise this will be the last chevron DIY
you read about here.

so today's project is transforming some old plates
i have had on the header in my kitchen forever.

let me start off by saying
achieving an even zigzag pattern is no joke.
in fact, i can't even begin to explain how to do it,
so i'm just hoping you're content
with stripes or something easier.  ha ha.

i actually made a template out of rectangles on my cricut (die cut machine)
and cut it out of regular old contact paper.

it was just a matter of making sure the ends were sealed,
and then i just spray painted away.
(i chose a cream gloss.)

technically, i'm not done with this project
because there are five more plates to go,
but at least i have the basic concept down,
so the other ones should be super fast to complete.
